Travel Safety for Families

cool babyMemorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer is around the corner.  While some are scouring local papers for fun and interesting stay-cation options, others are planning to hit the road…or even “the friendly skies.”

Even though we don’t like to think about it, it can be pretty stressful when things go wrong when we are far from home; a little pre-planning can sometimes help parents find just the right balance between “adventure” and “safety.”

one of my favorite trips was when my dad took me to Disneyland for my 6th birthday. I did the same for my kiddos and now I get to do it with my almost 6 year old granddaughter! I am beyond excited. She arrives tonight and she has NO idea! My husband read a bunch of Disney Mom blogs so we’re prepared!

Don’t forget those pets! If you stop to eat along the way, have someone keep fido on a leash outside in the grass and rotate through the chow line. Never leave pets or children in parked vehicles! Even if you crack the windows the temp can rise 20 degrees in as few as 10 minutes. 🙂
